Branch Office Administrator Edwardjones Investments
Edward Jones--John Gardner, CFP
Branch Office Administrators (BOAs) have five responsibilities: Client Service BOAs are the primary person in the branch office responsible to provide client service.
We expect BOAs to take ownership for this key function so the financial advisor can focus on sales and investment advice. Office Administration BOAs are responsible to process accounts, maintain branch records, manage the branch calendar, obtain supplies, and process bills, while meeting compliance guidelines. Client Development Support Support BOAs are responsible to assist the financial advisor with business development by performing allowable marketing support tasks.
Expectations for the types of activities and proficiency using automated tools are described in the BOA Competencies. Self-Development BOA Trainees are required to complete Basic training within their first six months. All experienced BOAs are expected to complete advanced training and new training topics on a timely basis. Each associate is expected to develop their knowledge and skills and seek ongoing improved performance.
BOAs and Senior BOAs that volunteer for regional support programs, such as Meeting Coordinator, will often need to complete additional training to prepare them for these responsibilities. Region and Firm Support We do ask and expect BOAs to provide administrative assistance to their financial advisor when the financial advisor holds a leadership role in the region; this work generally involves scheduling meetings, sending messages to other branches, and compiling reports.
Many branches host a trainee financial advisor for several weeks, and we ask BOAs to help new financial advisors become familiar with processing systems and office recordkeeping. These activities are performed during normal office hours. To improve region performance and support a growing firm, a number of regional support programs are being established to benefit BOAs in the region. While not required, experienced BOAs are encouraged to volunteer for a regional program such as mentoring, BOA meeting planning or presentations, or helping with an occasional branch visit, workshop or special project. These contributions are marks of excellence.
BOA Skill Requirements BOAs are also expected to demonstrate specific types of knowledge, skills and abilities. These skills and abilities guide BOAs in carrying out responsibilities and developing as a professional. They also form the basis for evaluating the BOA's performance. There are different levels of performance criteria for BOA Trainees, BOAs, and Senior BOAs (Advanced). They are: Communication Critical Thinking
