Work Description: Performs process monitoring, process control adjustments, maintenance and electrical repairs of all
mechanical equipment located in the water or wastewater treatment plants and KUB facilities. Inspects, adjusts, and/or repairs
equipment and plant processes to ensure the water and wastewater plants meet all applicable criteria and/or stays within accepted
parameters established by federal and state regulations. Responsible for taking pro-active steps to prevent and resolve any process or
equipment failures in a timely manner. Conducts and/or attends advanced training sessions on equipment repair and process
methodology and demonstrates the ability to perform work at a high skill level. Responds to all types of emergencies – performing
troubleshooting and restoration responsibilities. Requires ability to function effectively and remain calm under emergency situations.
Documents work using department software. Follows safety policies and standard operations procedures of KUB. Follows safe work
practices and work rules. Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to work in a diverse multi-team environment. Attends training
sessions and learns plant operation processes and equipment repair methods. Responsible for documenting work and reporting
equipment and process failures. Completes assigned jobs and projects at all of the water and wastewater plants within the department
and other facilities as assigned. May also perform similar duties at KUB remote facilities. Able to work various work schedules, including
rotating shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school education or equivalent
• One (1) year experience or training in the maintenance or operations of water and wastewater plant processes or other
relevant combination of education and experience
• Demonstrates a strong aptitude for problem solving (i.e., electrical/mechanical ability)
• Must have training using equipment, tools, instruments, etc., necessary to perform work required under this Classification.
• Experience and training in either the water and/or wastewater industry and/or industrial plant setting in
electrical/electronic/mechanical and/or operations of hydraulic or pneumatic systems equipment and plant processes
• Valid Tennessee driver's license
Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and work where conditions are cramped and head space is limited. Must be able to
work on structures up to 150 feet high. Requires above normal visual and mental alertness quite frequently. Must be able to climb steps and work from
ladders.

Preferred Qualifications
• Three (3) or more years experience in operation and maintenance of treatment plant equipment
• Strong electrical experience including but not limited to experience with PLC’s, VFD’s, voltages/amperages ranging from 4-20
milliamps to 69k, fiber optic cable terminations, installation of conduits and circuits, installation and calibration of numerous
instruments, ultrasonic level indicators, open channel flow meters, magnetic flow meters, turbidimeters, suspended solids
meters, chlorine analyzers, high voltage generators and various other plant electrical equipment
• Electrical certification
• Grade III or IV water / wastewater license
• Strong teamwork, flexibility and leadership skills
• Basic computer skills and data entry ability
