Specific Job Responsibilities:

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for Numerical Control (NC) Programming for Coordinate Measuring Machines and YZ Inspection Machines, along with providing supporting instructions, documentation and shop support. Interacts with individual or multidiscipline teams of design and manufacturing personnel to determine inspection features, set-up requirements, tooling requirements, programming needs and schedule impacts. Because product definition will be provided in various formats including paper and electronic models, uses both paper and electronic formats to generate information required to support NC inspection program generation and development. Develops and deploys new software systems, supports test and check-out of inspection equipment, and verifies and checks out hardware in support of improved inspection capabilities.
Specific Job Knowledge & Training Required:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Requires a basic understanding of operations' principles and concepts normally acquired through an applicable Bachelor's degree plus 5 years relevant, progressive experience; OR a minimum of 9 years of relevant, progressive experience, training, and/or education will be reviewed and considered for equivalency of these requirements.
OR
An Associate#s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field may be considered, plus experience in computer programming and a minimum of 7 years of relevant, progressive experience; OR a minimum of 9 years of relevant, progressive experience, training, and/or education will be reviewed and considered for equivalency of these requirements.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR TRAINING

Check-out and prove-in of programs including at-the-machine assistance along with utilization and familiarity of established
procedures and processes to assure cyber security, quality and change control of developed programs will be required. Requires knowledge and experience in the use of desktop computer systems and standard office software. Requires experience in computer programming and use of 2-D and 3-D CAD/CAM systems. Specific experience in ProEngineer, QUINDOS and/or APT is preferred. Requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings of mechanical equipment and components including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Requires strong spatial visualization skills and competency in algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. (The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance is required.)
The job level will be determined based upon relevant education and experience of the selected candidate. Internal applicants currently in the same ladder, if selected, will maintain their current level and pay.
