Work Description:
Provides excellent service to all KUB customers by performing accurate meter reads, quality meter installations, routine meter maintenance and thorough safety inspections throughout KUB electric, natural gas and water distribution areas. Routinely works with gas pressures up to 2 psi and voltages up to 240 volts without direct supervision, proficiently using necessary tools and test equipment. Daily makes decisions based on established procedures, codes and regulations to assure the safe and efficient delivery of electric, gas and water to KUB customers. Daily uses personal computers for communication and
documentation of work. Must possess necessary interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and KUB customers.
Will be required to work shift work.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school education or equivalent with experience and demonstrated mechanical ability, or the equivalent in trade school
training.
• Ability to be trained to use all instruments, tools, etc., necessary to perform any and all work required in the classification.
• Ability to function effectively and remain calm under emergency situations.
• Above average visual and mental alertness.
• Minimum one (1) year experience as a Service Technician or equivalent experience.
• Valid Tennessee driver's license.

Physical Demands: Requires working in cramped spaces on several occasions, bending and stooping up to 20 times a day,
lifting 1-50 pounds a day, etc. in order to install and service equipment. Works outside the majority of the time, from KUB vehicle, in customer facilities, and in all kinds of weather. Works inside as necessary in a shop/warehouse setting. Subject to hazards such
asphyxiation, explosions, burns, electrical shocks, falls, etc. Subject to working overtime as necessary and to being called in at any
hour in emergency situations. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and learning new skills and techniques as required.
Must wear personal protective equipment which may include; hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest, fire resistive clothing and safety
toed boots.

Preferred Qualifications
• One to two years experience installing water and/or electric meters.
• One to two years utility experience.
• Ability to be trained on KUB computer systems, including mobile data system.
• Strong work ethic, self-reliant, and professional.
• Adequate knowledge of geographical area.
• Ability to manage time and set priorities effectively.
