Hispanic Business Groups Nationwide Endorse Sotomayor
Washington, DC - The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the national representative for almost 3 million Hispanic-owned businesses, has been joined by 67 local Hispanic chambers of commerce from across the United States to express their strong support for Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the United States Supreme Court. Local chambers of commerce from states such as California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and dozens more signed a letter to the U.S. Senate urging the quick and timely confirmation of Judge Sotomayor.
“The Hispanic business community believes that Judge Sotomayor will continue her reputation as a fair and impartial jurist when she is confirmed to serve on the Supreme Court. That is why Hispanic chambers of commerce from all across America have expressed their support of her,” said David C. Lizárraga, USHCC Chairman of the Board. “Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs are extremely supportive of this nomination. There has been a resounding level of support for her within our community, and we believe the Senate should confirm her without delay.”
Judge Sotomayor has one of the most prolific judicial backgrounds in decades and an incredibly compelling personal story. She has a deep respect for the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law. She has demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of highly complicated legal issues, and has a strong reputation for deciding cases based upon the careful application of the facts to the law. The nation will benefit greatly from her service on its highest court.
