Hispanic Chamber, YWCA awarded federal grant
KNOXVILLE - The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of East Tennessee and the YWCA Knoxville said Tuesday they have received a federal grant to provide services to victims of violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
The $175,165 grant from the Federal Office on Violence Against Women will be distributed over two years.
With the funding, the two organizations will provide culturally and linguistically specific services, according to a press release. The grant will allow the YWCA to expand its YWCA Victim Advocacy Program.
Hispanics are the largest minority population in the U.S., and Tennessee has the fourth fastest-growing Hispanic population, according to the release.
